My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Ashley is in a foster home. ***

Gray & white tuxedo, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 8/20/20, #15987

Cats: enjoys a buddy
Dogs: may be fine
Children: older kids

Ashley is a Rescue House original who came back to us after having established himself as a cool cat in Chicago. However, when his adopter faced a moving situation where he could not take any animals, Ashley was taken to a local shelter. The shelter coordinated with Rescue House over several weeks in order to arrange his transport back to San Diego. Ashley is happy to be back from the Windy City, and is looking for his new forever home in the Golden State.

Ashley is a very personable fellow! He requested pets and belly rubs from his fosters the morning after arriving in their home. He is very much a homebody, preferring to spend most of his day in one of several specific spots: lounging in an armchair, splayed out on your bed, or enjoying the soft rise and fall of your breathing as he naps on your stomach. Ashley knows his own preferences, and he asks that people respect his personal boundaries; he likes certain ways of petting and he'd prefer to keep his paws under his own control most of the time. Within his parameters, Ashley is a friendly guy and all for getting attention. While not an overly vocal cat, Ashley does believe in open doors within the house so that he can move through the rooms as he pleases and may announce this wish if he's been separated from the household activity and people. He's a good boy about using his post and box scratchers, enjoys chasing toys, and likes to spend time on a cat tree or windowsill. He can't help himself and will eat anything put in front of him, so a portion-controlled diet is recommended. Overall, Ashley's a good-natured and companionable kitty who is a delight to have in your home!

Ashley is a very curious cat and he gets along well with his foster brother; they chase each other and roughhouse on occasion but always come back to appreciate each other's company. He has had some limited exposure to small dogs and was more curious about them than they were about him, so may do well if given a slow introduction to a cat-friendly canine. Since he does have preferences about how he is petted, we think he'd prefer a home with older versus younger children who might be more unpredictable.

Ashley is a dapper and independent gentleman that appreciates a quiet life with a person(s) that can provide him with the attention he likes while also enjoying some alone time. As long as he has food, water, and a human to lie on occasionally, he's as happy as a clam. Does Ashley sound like a good match for you?
