Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Oakley!
A spirited two-year-old German Shepherd mix from Long Beach, CA, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a luxuriously black and tan coat. Oakley isn't just a handsome boy; he’s a delightful blend of German Shepherd, Border Collie, White Swiss Shepherd, and Beagle, making him a curious, protective, and intelligent companion!
Oakley is an energetic fellow who loves to play with squeaky toys, engage in a game of tug-of-war with a rope, and fetch a ball with enthusiasm. His playful nature shines through as he revels in being chased, showing off his agility and speed! Despite his exuberance, Oakley has a sweet side and enjoys moments of calm and affection with his human companions.
This high-energy boy thrives in an environment where he can be the center of attention as the only pet. He needs a dedicated family who can provide ample exercise and playtime to keep his active mind and body engaged. Oakley knows a few basic commands like sit, down, and stay, but he would greatly benefit from further training to channel his energy positively. His protective instincts mean he barks at delivery people and can be a bit stubborn outdoors, but with consistent positive reinforcement, he's sure to become an obedient and well-mannered family member.
Oakley has made great strides in overcoming his rough start in life, having been found tied to a tree and abandoned. He has been fostered with love and care, and his once strong separation anxiety has significantly improved over the past few months. Oakley is house-trained and requires a fenced yard to safely expend his energy.
Though Oakley hasn’t had much interaction with other dogs or cats, his new pet parent will find his most endearing trait to be his innate sense of protection. He is loyal and loving, ready to bring joy and excitement to a family who can match his zest for life. Oakley’s routine includes being fed twice a day, small walking sessions, and plenty of playtime. He has fully recovered from parvo after receiving monoclonal antibodies in March 2024 and is now in excellent health!
Are you ready for a loyal and playful companion who will bring boundless energy and affection into your life? Oakley is eagerly waiting for a new loving home where he can thrive and share his playful spirit. Could that be with you?
