My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet little angel is named Zuka. To meet her is to love her, this girl is a barrel of sunshine with a wagging tail and a perfect little frosted face. Zuka is SUCH a loving soul, good with kids, cat-tolerant and dog-friendly. She has great basic leash skills, she loves treats and she’s a true snugglebug. A great first dog for your kids!

Zuka is a bouncy, wiggly happy girl, weighing in at a snuggly 60 pounds. She’s a rescue, so her exact age and breed are a mystery to us and cannot be guaranteed. We suspect her to be a Pittie, German shepherd mix, and we estimate her age to be around 6 years old. Zuka is an established good girl, ready to meet her forever family.

Fall in love with Zuka here: https://youtu.be/17zNwdAkbKc?si=bkwUIVk0x7NNFXpI

Zuka is such a soft, sweet girl. She greets new people with tail wags and trust. She takes treats gently and excitedly, that tail starts wagging the second she hears the tell-tale sound of a treat bag. When you’re sitting down, she’ll get face to face with you by bracing her front paws on your seat, just to give some kisses and get some ear scritches. (She responds really well to verbal correction and will get down if you ask!) She’s an affectionate, adorable and sweet girl, with suchhh softeness to her. Zuka is a perfect little angel, and we don’t say that lightly!

Zuka is currently fostered with another dog, and does really well with him. Here at the rescue, she met a small scruffy dog and was kind and gentle with him! She’s great at sharing affection and treats with other dogs, and a pleasure for her canine companions to play with. Here at the rescue, we did notice that she can get a little overwhelmed with a new dog, so we recommend slow introductions to any future housemates, and our behavior team will be available to give you advice on introductions! Zuka was cat tested by our behavior team, she is cat-tolerant and could live with dog-savvy kitties. See her cat test for yourself in her video.

Zuka is fostered in a home with children ranging in age from toddler to teen, and here at the rescue, she was introduced to a three year old. She did great with him, and we’ve included this footage in her video. Zuka’s silly sweet personality and kid-friendliness will make her an excellent family dog! She’s a total snuggle bug, and medium energy, she’ll play chase with your kids, and then snuggle up and listen to a bedtime story with them. This girl is all sunshine and love, a rescue dog with a heart of gold- she’s the childhood dog that your kids will talk about for the rest of their lives.

Zuka has good basic leash skills, and a people-friendliness that will make her enjoyable to take on adventures. We hope that lazy days at your favorite campsite, strolls through the park, and warm summer nights at your favorite dog-friendly eatery are in Zuka’s future.

Zuka’s foster family reports that she is crate trained and house trained. Here at the rescue, Zuka did not have any accidents indoors. Zuka is a smart and obedient girl, super food motivated and eager to please. She’s a gentle treat taker too, so any further training will be easy and enjoyable for both of you. Another great sign for Zuka’s future trainability- she has an awesome habit of checking in with her humans while playing or walking on leash. She is such a smart and good girl!

Zuka’s perfect home would have a big fenced backyard for her to sunbathe in, another dog with a calm demeanor for her to play with, and at least one loving human to call her own. While Zuka could happily live with a doggy-sibling, she could also do well as a solo-dog, soaking up all of that human-affection for herself. Zuka would make a lovely family dog, and with her sweet, trusting nature, we believe it will be love at first sight when she meets her forever family.

Zuka has waited over 200 days to meet her forever family, and this girl is too good to pass up. She is truly that quintessential “childhood rescue dog,” with the unidentifiable breed and that perfect, sweet demeanor that purebred dogs can just never quite achieve. Zuka is magic, and warmth and love, so comforting and so caring. She is a dog that will feel like part of the family. With any questions, please reach out to her adoption coordinator, whose email is linked below. We are willing to test Zuka with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
