My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Babitha:  The Unfolding Tale

Looking for the most amazing “Who Rescued Who” love story?  If so, Babitha (aka “Babs”, “Babalicious”, “Babarooski”) is the girl for you!  I am pleased to introduce Babs - our resident secret agent on a mission to find the coziest hiding spots in your home. This 1-2 year old cattle dog mix] may seem like a shy wallflower, but underneath that quiet exterior is a heart of gold, who would love to find her forever where she can come out of her undercover assignment.

Babs is the James (Jane?) Bond of the dog world, minus the high-speed car chases (though she does have a penchant for mad scrambles that get her nowhere on hard flooring). She has an extraordinary talent for blending into the background, especially when new people are around. But give her time, and you'll discover her soft, loving nature, especially when she thinks no one's watching.  Babs is especially covert coming in for licks to your face and rolling on your body to get closer.

Likes:

·  Her crate and a dog bed (perfect for observing the world in stealth and safety mode)

·  Gentle head pats (once you've passed their secret handshake test)

·  The sound of treat bags (which magically makes them appear out of thin air)

·  Quiet days with their favorite human (she’s really into shows with low volume and minimal explosions, or even better, a book!)

Dislikes:

·  Loud noises (like surprise sneezes, shouts or household appliances that are not yet familiar)

·  Fast movements (she’s more of a "slow and steady wins the race" type)

·  Strangers (she’s convinced they're all undercover vacuum salespeople)

Once an elusive shadow in a world too noisy and fast, Babs has been working on her transformation into a terrific and adoring side-kick. With a bit of patience and a lot of love, she has started to come out of her shell—one paw at a time. She may not be the life of the party, but she’s definitely the best at keeping secrets and sharing quiet moments.  Food may have taken the place of companionship, so Babs is working on more human interaction and less time using food as a coping skill.

Babs is searching for a calm, patient individual / family who understands that not all heroes wear capes—some just need a little more time to feel safe. A peaceful environment with a cozy hideout (or two) would be perfect. They're best suited for a home without young children or overly energetic pets, as they prefer a drama-free lifestyle.

Think you have what it takes to crack the code to Babitha’s heart? Apply to adopt this undercover stealth specialist and enjoy the rewards of her quiet companionship and growing trust. Babs is currently being fostered in Aurora, CO.

Additional adoption info

We are doggie and kitty match-makers. We do everything in our power to assure that our dogs or cats will thrive in your environment.

Please start by submitting an application to adopt on our website. We do our best to respond to all applications but do to the number of applications received, this may always not be possible.

If you, your family and your lifestyle look like a good fit for the personality and needs of the animal, there's a phone call to chat and answer any additional questions. From there we will arrange a no-obligation meet and greet, where the animal could then go home with you, provided it is a good fit for all involved! (All this can happen within a week's time!)

A contract is signed at time of adoption. If for ANY reason you are unable to keep your companion, we quite passionately INSIST the animal be returned to us and NOT dropped in a shelter. We would happily take any of our adoptions back if it proves NOT a good fit for your family. :-)

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, basic vaccinations, (including rabies if old enough), deworming, rescue and transport costs, other medical services as needed (which can include but not limited to skin scrape, fecal exam, x-ray, amputation and hospitalization). Felines additionally receive an felv/fiv test and checked for ringworm with the Woods lamp prior to transport.

Adoption fees may vary due to special health circumstances, but typically start with...adult dogs (1 year and older): $425; puppies: $475; adult cats (1 year and older): $175; kittens: $250.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster based rescue ~ we DO NOT have a physical shelter at the moment. All of our dogs and cats reside in foster homes all throughout the Front Range and the Western Slope of Colorado. We have adoption events regularly at Petsmart stores in Denver, CO. If we do not have an event scheduled, we can arrange a time for you to meet one of our animals available for adoption.

More about this rescue

We relocate dogs and cats from high-intake shelters, animal control facilities, and reservations in the Four Corners area to animal rescue partners and forever homes in Colorado. We provide transportation to foster homes and other partner organizations, offer medical care and low/no cost spay and neuter services, manage a network of foster homes for temporary shelter, and run adoption events so that these animals can find forever homes.

Since March of 2012, we have transported thousands of at-risk dogs and cats to safety, solely on generous donations from caring individuals like you who see how dire the need is in and around the Navajo reservation.
