Meet Angel!

When Angel was cruelly abandoned in Angeles National Forest near Mt. Baldy without care or basic needs for an unknown amount of time, he was thankfully found by a nearby resident, who got him the veterinary care he needed and took him into her home. After two months of treatment and TLC, Angel is now ready for a forever home!

Angel is estimated to be a 12-year-old cattle dog mix and is neutered. His foster mom shared what she has learned about this sweet soul during the past two months:

Personality:

Angel is calm, gentle, affectionate, and well-mannered. He is eager to please, listens well, and seems to learn quickly. Angel is extremely loving and wags his tail when approached. He loves being pet and even held as if he were a lap dog. Angel is an ideal partner for anyone looking for a loyal friend to stay by their side.

Angel would do best with a family that has a second dog for him to bond with while the owner isn't home. If home alone without his person or another dog, he worries and barks. If Angel is home with a dog friend, he is fine when his person leaves.

Behavior with other animals:

Angel is quiet, curious and gentle when meeting new dogs at the pet supply store, when visitors come over with their dogs, and on walks. When he was found, there was another dog with him who was special needs and who has been adopted. Angel was the reason they survived, as he was clearly the guardian of the other dog who could not walk. Even under such awful circumstances, Angel proved to be extremely loyal.

Angel does well with cats, and doesn't bark at or bother them. He has also been exposed to a chinchilla, who he has never been introduced to while the chinchilla is out of the cage, but he doesn't bark at the chinchilla or bother with the cage. Angel is friendly to everyone.

Behavior with children:

Angel is great with children. He has been around children ages 8 and 10 for one month and is very sweet to all. He wags his tail when approached and enjoys being pet and held.

Other things to know:

* Angel is well-mannered on leash, enjoys walks and lounging with an owner or another dog friend.
* Angel is fully crate-trained and has no potty accidents overnight in his crate. He is learning to be potty trained during the day and is currently doing well with being on leash while inside so that he can learn.
* Angel has zero food aggression; if his food is moved or taken away, he just watches and waits.
* Angel is submissive, easily bathed and groomed.

It is a miracle that Angel survived abandonment in the forest and managed to keep his friend and himself safe. Now, thanks to his guardian angel, he is healthy and ready to be adopted. Might you be the one to give him the happily-ever-after he so deserves?
