My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I’d like to introduce myself…I’m Charlie Boy; here looking for my forever family. I somehow found myself at the county animal control, lost and alone. My friends at Forever Loved found me there and promised to help me find you. We’re all a little confused as to exactly which breeds contributed to my different and striking looks. Maybe some terrier, a bit of Husky, a touch of aussie; who knows! I’d like to tell you a little bit about my personality, my strengths and a few things I still need to work on. I’m a loving boy who likes to have pets and praise. I’ll look at you with my adoring eyes and lean into your leg to let you know I’m hoping to grab your attention. It might take me a little while to warm up and I can be a bit picky about who I choose to be my friends. Believe me, when I choose you, it’s definitely worth the wait! My perfect home is quiet; with patient and supportive guardians that allow me to settle in and feel secure. I’d really like to have a dog friend too. Having a buddy gives me great comfort and boosts my confidence. I have a roommate at the moment and I love to pal around with him.

I’d also like you to be aware that I adore toys and fully expect to have a huge selection in my new home! The squeakier, the better! I love them so much sometimes it’s hard to let them go. No worries though, all I need is a little distraction and I’m off to something else. I’m working on my fitness and have some lbs to lose. I’m 42lbs now and would ideally weigh around 35. Some gentle exercise and good nutrition should help me get right into shape. I’m a young senior at only 8 years old so I’ve got a lot a of great years to share. Please let my friends know you’d like to schedule a meet up. I can’t wait!

Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary (FLPS) is involved with events hosted by PACC911 (Phoenix Animal Care Coalition).

More about this rescue

Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary (FLPS) is the only senior-only animal rescue in Maricopa County, Arizona. Formed in 2012 as a non-profit 501[c][3] organization, the focus of FLPS is to save senior animals who are often overlooked by providing them the opportunity to thrive in a safe and caring environment. FLPS serves a public need by offering housing to a limited number of senior pets.

This safe haven, takes the burden of temporary care and housing of senior animals off of local shelters. Inevitably, local shelters resort to euthanizing these abandoned, senior animals at an alarming rate. According to a 2012 statistics report, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) euthanizes one animal every eight minutes it is open to the public. Euthanasia for senior residents is the primary option for most local shelters because they tend to focus their efforts on a high adoption model that includes younger “more adoptable” animals. FLPS works with local shelters and rescues to identify the senior animals in need and provide a streamlined process for interested men, women and families who wish to adopt.
