My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.

Samme is on the at-risk list due to behavior. He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. He would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give him plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers.

Samme tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

A volunteer writes: I'm so proud to tell you what I know about this very special guy. While I can't say Samme's jumping at the chance to be my friend, his previous person described him as a kitty who likes to make contact on his own terms but is friendly with everyone - children, adults, and even other cats. Samme loves to play with his toys and with his cat buddy. With such a full and loving life, we know that dear Samme is trying his best, but right now he's in a bit of a pickle. He's a gorgeous senior gentleman who was brought to us due to his person's housing issues. Coming into the Care Center hasn't been the easiest transition, but all he needs is a chance to be the cat he is and is meant to be. We know he has been a very well loved cat and we want that for him again.
