Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Beans is like your cool uncle. He’s not a youngster. He’s “been around the block” and has seen some stuff, but he’s not jaded and is young at heart. If he could, Beans would drive a Harley. Because he can’t, he occasionally zooms from point to point (probably making vroom, vroom sounds in his head). Beans can be wary of strangers and toys that dangle over his head. This might be a reaction to some clandestine work he may or may not have done for the CIA (he won't say for sure). He’s chill though, once he knows the situation and warms up to people quickly. He likes to play peek-a-boo with his catnip toy and sometimes chases his own tail. He doesn’t care if other, older cats think he should “act his age.” Beans loves getting belly rubs and chin scratches. He loves to sleep with people and wake them with head bumps. He just likes hanging out and watching the world go the by the window or having an interesting conversation with his human on the sofa. Bean gets along well with other cat friendly kitties and we just did bloodwork and a dental so he is good to go!
If you live in Chicago and are interested in learning more about Beans, please contact Toni McNaughton at tonimcn@rcn.com and Lisa Ward at catladychicago@yahoo.com. Please tell us a bit about your situation, what you are looking for, the composition of your current household (the other humans and/or pets who already live there). Inquires with these questions answered are responded to promptly.
We are always in need of foster homes. If you are not able to adopt, but are interested in fostering or know someone who might be, we would love to hear from you! Please contact Toni McNaughton at tonimcn@rcn.com or Lisa Ward at catladychicago@yahoo.com to learn more. Photos by Brenda Stewart and Samantha Catalfamo.

Additional adoption info
The process for adopting a cat involves a couple of steps.
Step 1 Gather information
We gather information about the potential adopter's situation, what they are looking for, their current household and pets, etc.
Step 2 Cat “Interviews”
Next, we have the potential adopter meet the available kitties, by putting them directly in touch with the appropriate foster parent(s) to coordinate a day and time for a visit.
Step 3 Adoption application
Once the potential adopter has met the kitties, if they decide they want to do an adoption, they fill out our adoption application, which we then process. It takes a couple of days to process the application. Once the application has been processed and approved, the kitties are ready to go home.
Step 4 After the adoption
Once a person has adopted a cat, Feline Friends Chicago continues to stay in touch with the adopter to ensure a smooth transition for both the person and the cat. We remain available for questions and advice.
All of our kitties have been combo-tested for FIV/Feline Leukemia, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for distemper, microchipped, and dewormed. The adoption fee helps to offset the costs we incur to do all of these things.
Please keep in mind, we are a very small volunteer group and not set up to do out of state or long distance adoptions. If you live out of the Chicago area, we encourage you to look at your local shelters where there are wonderful animals waiting for homes.
