Katya is a sweet little lady of about 3 years old that is so lucky to have found herself in a trap one day. Why lucky? Because it ended her colony-living lifestyle where she had to fend for herself and face the dangers of the outside world. Katya should never have been out there to begin with, but someone assumed she was feral, they spayed her and tipped her ear, and pretty much forgot about her. We're happy she was re-discovered because Katya belongs curled up on a couch, not in a pile of leaves. What a loving and gentle soul she is! She's laid-back and lazy, and she's so happy to meet you. She may hide and come off as a little timid at first but give her a minute, and a treat or two, and Katya's your best buddy. Katya is fine with other easy going cats too, and she's looking forward to being offered the home of her dreams! Call 69-693-1900 or email: office@ahsppz.org for an application. File#72832 5/22/24

More about this shelter
The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.
For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
The Society is a not for profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.
