My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This boy is a lover! Meet Bruno! He adores his humans and has never met a stranger. Bruno is exuberant and excited about life. At 65lbs, he's not really a lap dog but he would be if he could fit! Bruno gets along with other dogs, and loves to play with other dogs who are willing to play with him. Bruno has one of the most irresistible faces with is big smile and one ear that mostly stands straight up while the other ear flops. Bruno loves treats and toys. He loves staying cool in the South Carolina heat with frozen treats. Bruno loves to run after a thrown object, but hasn't quite grasped the concept of "fetching" just yet. Bruno walks fairly well on a leash and is currently practicing not pulling. More practice will be needed, as Bruno mostly potties and plays in the fenced yard in his foster home with little opportunity to practice walking on the leash. Bruno is already house trained and crate trained. Generally, his foster family has been able to leave Bruno loose in the house without him getting into any trouble. Due to Bruno's exuberant nature and lack of insight regarding his size, we do recommend children 10 years and older. Bruno's favorite place to hang out is the couch. He sprawls across his foster's sectional, but no worries, he happily makes space for his people! Bruno shows his love for his people with lots of sweet kisses and cuddles. Bruno is so excited to meet his future family! Is that you? Send in your adoption application today at www.underhoundrailroad.org. Bruno is currently being fostered in South Carolina and may transport along the East Coast as far North as Maine to his adoptive home.

More about this rescue

Underhound Railroad was formed in 2009 by a group of friends, with the goal of rescuing innocent dogs from death row in Connecticut shelters. Underhound Railroad has now grown to include rescue communities in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, North Carolina, South Carolina and Utah.

With our focus on rural areas where shelters are overflowing with abandoned dogs waiting to find rescue, our network of Underhound volunteers work hard to prevent undeserved deaths, see that medical, emotional and behavioral needs are tended to, and transportation as well as a loving foster family are provided to the pups on their journey to finding their forever homes!
