Here in my kennel, I may not show my best self, but once I'm out, I'm a whole different dog! I've heard humans say I'm a friendly chap, always ready with a wagging tail and a warm greeting. At four years old I'm pretty smart too. I've mastered the basics: sit, stay, and my personal favorite, shake! There's nothing I love more than meeting new people and showing off my handshake. Loyalty is my middle name. Cats? They're cool. I'll admit, I can be a bit selective when it comes to other dogs, but hey, we all have our quirks, right? I'm just looking for that special someone who'll accept me as I am, quirks and all. I promise to be your constant companion, your confidant, and your best friend. The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
