My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

He’s a kernel of joy!

Hello, there! My name is Popcorn, and I’m a 3-year-old, 52-pound neutered Shepherd Mix.  I’m an all-around good boy who popped onto the scene from Tijuana.  As a proud TVT survivor, I’ve spent the last several months under the care of the At-Choo Foundation.  I’m now as good as new, and it’s time for me to find my furever home!

I’m a pretty mellow guy, but I tend to adjust my energy level to match yours.  Whether you’re in the mood to lounge on the couch or go for a nice walk outside, I’m your man.  My favorite activities are playing with my bear and the rest of my toys.  I also enjoy sleeping and like to get a little shut-eye in whenever possible.

As far as my training goes, I’m fully potty trained and crate trained.  I’m not the anxious type, so I don’t show any signs of separation anxiety when I’m left behind.  The one thing I am working on, though, is barrier reactivity.  In order to become the best doggie I can be, I’ll need further training in this area.

Due to my easy-going nature, I’d thrive in any type of home.  Doggie siblings would be just fine – as long as they are on the lower-energy side.  Kiddos are also A-OK, but I think I’d do best with those who are old enough to respect my boundaries (10 years and up). Other than that, give me lots of love and I promise to be yours furever!

Don’t I sound like the perfect mix between sweet and savory? My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
