My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Balto and I'm an affectionate, gray male tabby seeking a forever home preferably with his brother, Toto.

With my 4 years of purr experience, I have a coo like purr. My foster parents believe I'm trying to imitate the doves to get them to come to the window. I will never tell!! I enjoy sun bathing and looking out the window. I'll will crawl all over my human for affection and snuggles. Head scratches are my favorite for which I will curl up in anyone's lap.

I'll be the first to greet you when you come home or walk into his room - once you earned my trust. My foster mom reports that I'm very neat and tidy house-guest and always use his litter box. I'm playful when the mood strikes but won't get all my toys scattered all over the house. I know better.

Just like my brother Toto (brown tabby), I get along well with dogs after gradual introduction as well as kittens of both genders after their quarantine time. There were kittens in the foster home when we moved in and they were cute to be around. I enjoyed that just like a big uncle. Adult cats on the other hand need more time for adjustment to a peaceful home environment together.

Also, if you are looking to cut back on your screen time on your phone, I can help by gently nudging it out of your hands when I seek you attention.

More about this rescue

SOS Cat Rescue AZ is a solely volunteer-run and foster-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Tucson, Arizona.

S.O.S. stands for saving orphan kittens and senior cats in danger of euthanasia from the local shelter and gives these cats a second chance for a "happily ever after" life. The kitties are solely placed in foster homes where they will be taken care of according to their individual needs such as bottle feeding for orphans, socialization for kittens while growing up, medical attention to the sick, and hospice care for seniors.

Since all our cats are in foster homes, we get to know them, their behavior, and their needs very well so we can help you find the cat that is a match for you.

S.O.S. is founded by experienced Tucson based rescuers who wanted to focus on special-need-cats and their well-being. Our team consists of excellent foster families, specialized bottle-feeders with years of experience, as well as strong individuals with a loving heart for senior cats, their special needs, and the knowledge that most of our seniors are with us because of their deteriorating health. This means we give senior cats a loving hospice forever home where they can  pass over in a home situation, loved and cared for.

Our goals are to rescue urgent kittens and senior cats in need, provide them with the care they need, and find them wonderful homes and a place to live out their remaining days. We are also working hard at screening the potential families and asking the right questions to ensure every single one of our rescued kitties finds their happily ever after home.

We retain the right to refuse adoption to anyone for any reason.
