My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Phyllis: Our Shelter's Wisest Cat!

Are you looking for a calm, seasoned companion who knows her way around an office... or at least a cozy corner of your home?

This lovely lady is the backbone of any room she graces. She's not flashy, but her presence is comforting, and her love is enduring. Phyllis enjoys a peaceful environment where she can relax in her favorite sunbeam, or the coziest bed around. With her wise, knowing eyes, she'll make you feel like you're the most important person in the world.

Phyllis is past her kitten days and prefers the finer things in life: soft beds, gentle pets, and long, uninterrupted naps. She's not one for drama (unless it involves a bit of catnip) and would thrive in a home where she can be a steady & loyal best friend who's always there when you need her. She has been through a whirlwind of changes over the past 9 years and is looking for her retirement home where she can settle down and put her trust in her final, forever guardian.

Phyllis has been diagnosed with very early stage kidney disease, which is not uncommon for cats of her age. Not to worry though! This is easily managed with a special diet and supplements! Additionally, she has expressed that she would like to be the only fur baby in the home & the sole receiver of pets and affection.

If you're ready to welcome a cat who will be your constant companion, providing comfort and company without demanding too much in return, Phyllis is the perfect match. Please stop by the Abbotsford shelter during our open hours of 1pm-4pm every day (other than Monday's and Thursday's) or submit an online application to meet this sassy senior that is just brimming with personality!

More about this shelter

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
