Life is sweet, but it could be sweeter with more Candy. Candy is a 2 year old Terrier mix, who is as sweet as her name. She found her way to our shelter in the care of our dedicated staff in July 2024. As a resident of over four months, candy is losing hope that a loving family will come adopt her. She has not once had someone inquire about her. Could you be the difference in a dogs life today? Candy is dog friendly, knows how to sit, and is very treat motivated and would be eager to learn/train to do more commands. As long as you offer her a treat of course! She is up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped, will be spayed upon adoption. She is Heartworm positive but don`t let that be the deciding factor. Our HSSM Wellness Clinic does discount treatment for adopters. Do you need candy to sweeten up your life? Come meet her today.

HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
