My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).
Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

This gentle giant is Ivy. We are looking for an adopter experienced with Great Danes! In typical Dane fashion, Ivy is timid upon first introduction to new people. With some patience, she will warm up and learn to trust you. Ivy's both dog and cat friendly! About 80% of the time, Ivy is content just lounging around chewing on her favorite bone. The other 20% of the time, she has the zoomies (which is quite comical given her size) and wants to go for a leashed walk or jog.

You can adopt Ivy with peace of mind knowing that she has been spayed, has had her stomach tacked (to avoid bloat), is fully vaccinated, has been heartworm tested, and is on prevention. Again, we will require an experienced an adopter so that we are providing Ivy with the best possible future.

More about this rescue

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. We do not receive public or government funding, and no monies from national humane organizations or county, state or federal government funds. Our work depends solely on grants, fundraisers, adoptions, private funding, memberships and donations. The fees collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home. We value every animal equally and consider all to be priceless
