Name: January (aka Jan)
Female, spayed
Age: 6 months
Weight: 35 pounds
Breed: Shepherd/ Hound Mix
There is nothing cold about this sweet January girl. Jan is incredibly affectionate and seeks guidance from her humans, making her a wonderful companion for someone who can offer a bit of direction and reassurance.
Jan currently lives with one dog and three cats. After a brief adjustment period, she’s found her groove and enjoys playful interactions with her doggy sister, Tula. She’s curious about the cats and loves to follow them around, but always respects their personal space.
Potty training has been a breeze for Jan—she’s had no accidents in the home, but if you let her out to potty without a leash, she does need you to walk with her. While she doesn’t mind her crate on her time, she’s not a fan of being locked inside. Don’t fret- after grumbling for a few minutes, Jan sleeps the whole night through. And while she hated it, she let us cut her nails without too much protest.
Jan is learning to walk on a leash, though she still needs some practice. She’s a bit hesitant about putting on her collar, but once it’s in place, she’s fine with it. Jan tends to stay close to your legs. On the bright side, she’s highly food motivated, which should make training easier. (She already knows sit!)
She is a little nervous meeting strangers, but once she realizes you are a friend and don’t want to hurt her, she is the sweetest gal. Jan would thrive in a home with other pets, children, or just a loving human family eager to give her the guidance and affection she seeks.
If you are interested in January, please apply at the adoption link in the comments below or message the rescue if you are already pre-approved.
