Asher, came to his foster home as a sweet but very shy boy. He has really come out of his shell as he has been in the home. He loves to have his head scratched and has learned that being held is not a bad thing as it gets him love, which he desperately wants. He does like to cuddle for a little bit, and will snuggle up on your shoulder and make biscuits and purr up a storm, but he doesn’t like to be held for to long.
Asher can still be a bit frightened by sudden loud noises but that has gotten better the longer he’s been in his foster home. He really loves to “hide” in his tent — his foster home thinks he just feels safest there but with time and more space he may not need that safe place. He would probably appreciate having a place to “hide” if he feels at all uncomfortable, something like a tent or a cat tree with a cubby so he can watch what’s going on but feel safe. He is slowly getting used to having his nails trimmed and tends to “freeze” when they are getting done.
Asher was rescued from a colony in Brantford. He has had his ear tipped as it wasn't known at first if he could be socialized. Asher has had 16 teeth removed. He has Stomatitis and is on 1/2 a pill of steroid medication every other day. The TCR vet feels that it would be best for his forever home and vet to decide if he can come off the medication or not going forward. His foster mom has no problems with him taking his pill as she just "hides" it in a Churu lickable tube treat, and he is all for getting that goodness! He loves Churu tubes.
Asher is a very sweet boy who took some time to come out of his shell but, he made a great improvement in wanting to be social once his dental surgery was done. He can get "spooked" a bit still but that is getting better with time. He will need a home that will be patient with him and allow him to learn to trust. He has been interested in the other cats in his foster home but has not had any real interaction with them. There were times shortly after his surgery that he didn’t eat well due to his stomatitis, but the vet informed his foster home that was not unusual. It is very rare for him not to eat both his canned food or dry food now.
Asher needs a home that will spoil him and show him all the love he deserves. His foster home knows that with time and patience he will show his forever home what a sweet boy he is, and he will shower you with all the love he has to give.

Additional adoption info
Adoption fee is $225 per adult cat, and $300 for kittens (under 8 months old).
This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!
Note:
-Senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adult adoption fee of $225.
-Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $175 per cat vs. $225 per cat. Thanks for giving two loving friends a home together!
