My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am currently at Stafford Creek Corrections Center as part of the FREEDOM TAILS Board & Train Program from August 8 - October 31. This popular program pairs a duo of incarcerated individuals up with a PAWS of Grays Harbor pooch for 12 weeks. Each dog has a primary and secondary handler assigned to the same cell, giving the dog 24-hour care and attention to meet its needs. During their stay at SCCC, these dogs receive specialized training to prepare them for adoption to the public. At the end of their 12-week stay, they enjoy a special adoption ceremony with their new families to show off their skills as they start a new journey. Find out more at pawsgh.org/freedomtails.

Hello everyone! My name is Cameron Diaz and I’m so likable, someone must have thought I was the famous actress! People around here call me Cammy and I love to meet people while wagging my tail so fast it looks like a blur! I’ve just begun my training on August 8th and it’s true what they say, if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life. My training includes cues, leash manners, and socialization with humans and dogs alike. I absolutely love people and dogs. I do my best to let them both know I’m friendly. I’m 11 months old and 53lbs of love and kisses! Did I mention how smart I am? Smart and modest… I’ve learned several human words that name the several cues I’ve learned… but if I’m being completely honest, I don’t exactly know what “modest” means. What I do know for certain is that I love being around people! As near as I can, I mean if you let me I’ll crawl right into your lap! Even when I meet someone for the first time, I like to lean against their leg with my shoulder and let them feel the wagging of my tail with their other leg. People are the best! They always rub my head, scratch my rump and pat my belly. If you are good at these three things and you don't mind my kisses on your chin, I’m the dog for you! Please apply to adopt at: http://www.pawsgh.org

Additional adoption info

Spay/neuter + rabies is included in our adoption fee, but may not be completed by time of adoption due to our limited access to veterinary appointments. We have local partners listed in your adoption contract that you can schedule an appointment with (and are paid by us) or we will reimburse for up to $100 for non-network veterinarians. Microchip, up-to-date vaccinations, flea treatment and dewormer are included.

Go meet their pets

Our public hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11 am - 4pm. Dog meets may be also scheduled on Sunday and Monday by appointment only. No appointment is needed to meet our cats during public hours.
Please note that appointments are highly recommended for dog meets due to limited staff availability, but we do accommodate walk-in visits whenever possible. Additionally, many of our dogs may be located off-site in foster homes and an appointment will be required to meet those pets. We do require a completed application prior to meeting pets in foster homes to preserve the valuable time of our foster families.

More about this shelter

PAWS finds new families for stray dogs and cats as well as owner surrendered pets. We also accept animals brought to us by concerned citizens and local animal control agencies and do our best to find them suitable homes. Our mission is to find homes and offer direct care for as many of these loveable pets as possible. PAWS attempts to prevent the birth of unwanted animals through education and spay/neuter programs.

PAWS of Grays Harbor is a strictly non-profit organization and we survive because of donations from our community. All of the animals we adopt out are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for fleas. Sometimes, the animals we rescue require additional veterinary care. Without your donations, none of this would be possible. Thank you for your support, we couldn’t do it without you.
