My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Andes, a lively large mix puppy with an endless supply of energy! Andes is destined to grow into a big dog and is looking for a family committed to helping him learn and thrive.

~ Andes is looking for a home with a single person, couple, or family with teenaged children.
~Andes is currently in need of some guidance to develop good manners. He requires a family ready to work on basic obedience, leash skills, crate training, house training, and socializing. His vocal personality makes him better suited for a home without shared walls to maintain harmony with neighbors.
~ Andes needs a home that will continue to work with his unwanted behaviours. He struggles with touch sensitivity, resource guarding, and reactivity towards other animals.
~ Due to Andes' young age, we require his new family to sign up for 3 mandatory in-person positive reinforcement training sessions before he leaves the shelter. This will ensure Andes gets the best possible start in his new home. If you're ready to embark on the exciting journey of raising Andes into a wonderful companion, submit an application for him today!

Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed:
- High Energy
- Mouthy
- Jumpy
- Under-Socialized
- No Training
- Resource guarding
- Touch sensitivity
- Reactivity

Explanation of Behaviours:
- Young puppy that is high energy and needs plenty of attention, training, exercise and
enrichment daily.
- Will need to be worked and trained with to improve difficult behaviours such as
mouthing and jumping.
- They will need to be socialized a lot in a proper and safe way to help them be set up
for success throughout their whole life ahead of them. Puppies need plenty of
socialization but this should be done properly. Do not force them into situations but
instead encourage them to have a positive experience with new things. Speak further
with your trainer to ensure they are being socialized in all the right ways!

This dog would benefit from:
- Active home
- Lots of training and socialization
- Lots of time and attention

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
