Meet Tucker – A Sweet, Loyal 11-Year-Old Lab Mix with the Energy of a Puppy!
If you’re looking for, loving companion who will shower you with affection, meet Tucker, an 11-year-old black Labrador Retriever mix with a heart of gold. Tucker is a sweet senior boy who’s ready to settle into a comfortable home where he can enjoy his golden years—but don’t let his age fool you! Tucker has the energy and enthusiasm of a much younger dog and is always ready for a good walk, play session, or a tasty treat. He may be 11, but he certainly doesn’t act his age!
Tucker is a loyal and loving dog who has so much to offer. While he loves his people and is a bit of a “couch potato” after some exercise, his energy and enthusiasm will surprise you—he’s proof that age is just a number! He’s looking for a home where he can be the only pet, enjoy daily adventures, and spend his days in the company of a dedicated, experienced owner.
Training & Behavior Needs:
Tucker is a quick learner and loves food rewards, making him highly motivated for training. He knows a few basic commands but would benefit from some reinforcement to keep him sharp and well-mannered. Here’s what you need to know about his behavior and training needs:
- Basic Obedience: Tucker knows the basics, but like any dog, he could use a refresher. He’s very treat-motivated, so positive reinforcement and food rewards will work wonders in reinforcing commands like sit, stay, and come. He may be an older dog, but his brain is sharp and eager to learn!
- Behavior with Other Animals: Tucker has shown frustration and redirected aggression when encountering other pets, so he **must be placed in a home without other animals**. He’s happiest as the only pet in the household and prefers to be the center of attention. While he has lived with other dogs in the past, his recent behavior suggests that he would be best as an `only child` in his new home.
- Adult-Only Home: Tucker is best suited for an **adult-only home** where he can receive the attention, consistency, and structure he needs. He is not a dog for first-time dog owners, as he requires someone who can provide clear boundaries and confidently manage his behavior. His new family should be experienced and patient, with a calm approach to training and managing his needs.
- Frustration and Stress Management: Tucker can be a bit overwhelming when he’s excited, so it’s important that his new home provides clear structure

We require potential adopters to fill out an pre-adoption application. If that application is approved, the dog/cat must be spayed/neutered before it leaves our shelter (if not already done). If it is a puppy under 4 months old, we allow it to go home with the adopters under a foster care agreement until it is old enough to be returned for spay/neuter. Kittens are allowed to leave before spay/neuter is done, but they must be done within a certain time frame.
Fees: Dogs/puppies range from $150-300, depending on if they came in already spayed/neutered or if we paid to have that done.
Cats range from $80 - $140, though we often have deals on older cats or cats that have been there a long time.
Kittens are $60 with $25 refunded once it has been spayed/neutered.
All adoptions include at least the first vaccination, deworming, de-fleaing, microchip ID, and 6 weeks of pet insurance.
