My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cutie pie Zoey is looking for her forever home! She is 10 years young and just over 7 lbs. She is an obedient but shy girl that will need some time to warm up and once she does she will be your bestie. She loves walking anytime of the day or night along with car rides. You will see her happy side come out when she hears her leash or the car keys. She lives with a small senior Chihuahua and loves to sunbathe together in the yard. She gets along with calm dogs big and small.

Zoey does her business on walks and is pee pad trained for those times in between, but she does sometimes try to hide her poop in the house. Perhaps she has been punished in the past. We are working on it, but she should not have whole house access when unsupervised. She doesn’t mind the crate when she is left alone.

Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Zoey is $200.

If you are interested in adopting Zoey, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/
. One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area.

Additional adoption info

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy foster to forever transition. The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home check, and an adoption donation. The adoption donation helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.

More about this rescue

Grateful Dogs Rescue was founded in 1990; its mission is to rescue dogs not made available for adoption at San Francisco Animal Care and Control, and other local shelters, through no fault of their own. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these dogs in a loving home until a forever loving home is found.

Grateful Dogs Rescue is always in need of new foster homes!  You can make a difference by fostering. The number of dogs we can save is dependent on having foster parents to care for them until they find their forever homes. All of our dogs are in foster care.
