My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ellie was born about May 12, 2018, and weighs about 12 pounds.  She is absolutely adorable and is supposed to be one of those "fancy" mini Aussies.  Google wasn't very helpful when I searched for what is mixed with and Aussie to be so small so me squinting and guessing I'd have to go with a Chihuahua.  Ellie has been with children and since there seems to be a couple times she has nipped at them we will be looking for a new home where there are teen kids or an adult home.  She is house trained and we always like to recommend these tiny dogs have potty floor pads around just in case and we are told that she has some anxiety with thunder and fireworks and chooses not to go outside during those times.  Ellie is fine on leash and that includes a retractable when the environment is appropriate. When she is off leash she will hang around as long as supervised.  She is fine about car rides but can have some anxiety a crate might be the safest way for her to travel.  Ellie came to us from a couple of hours away and her home was lovely.  It seems her human parents are now working long hours so she was home alone 8-10 hours a day and they also felt she'd like a home with a fenced yard since she loves to run and play and loves going for walks.  She is very human oriented, loves attention, belly rubs and toys only the stuffed ones don't last long!  We were told she is sometimes sensitive about a previous vaccine site on her hip which tell us this girl really should not have any further vaccines and titers would be best for her future health check-ups.  Sometimes when rough playing with her human she will play bite and she will likely do this to a dog friend too, but that is kind of what an Aussie is meant to do.  She has chewed on some inappropriate things over the years when she is bored.  Ellie is sweet, funny, and has the best butt wiggle (tail is docked).  Her humans stated that they love her and will miss her and they felt they loved her enough to know she should have a better home with someone around more often.  What they didn't take into account is that there is a drastic dog overpopulation problem even right here in western NY and she will likely be waiting her awhile which is fine because it's a pretty cool shelter as shelters go, but she will still have to go through a mourning period of losing her humans and her home.  This is one of those situations that just truly makes us sad for the dog especially since the day before Ellie came a dog arrived that is still moaning off and on throughout the night from his loss.  But, it's not about us humans here and on we go......
