My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ami and Dim Sum, two inseparable Mini Rex sisters with the softest fur you'll ever feel! These energetic and playful bunnies are always on the move, bringing joy and excitement to every moment. Their sleek, velvety coats are a testament to their breed, making them not only a delight to watch but also a pleasure to pet.

Ami and Dim Sum are very intelligent and love to explore their surroundings. Their curiosity and energy mean they need plenty of space to run around and play. They enjoy attention and will happily engage with their human friends, making them wonderful companions.

However, these smart girls can be quite a handful! They have a tendency to chew on wooden objects, so bunny-proofing their environment is a must. Their clever antics will keep you on your toes, but their affectionate nature makes it all worthwhile.

Ami and Dim Sum lost their home when their beloved mom went into hospice care. Now, they are looking for a new forever home where they can continue to thrive and bring happiness. These sisters are a package deal, offering double the love and double the fun.

If you have the space and time to keep up with these lively and loving bunnies, Ami and Dim Sum will fill your home with joy and laughter. Adopt this dynamic duo and experience the unique bond and boundless energy they bring!

WE ADOPT TO INDOOR HOMES ONLY. There are simply too many dangers outside for a rabbit to thrive and survive. You are expected to make a lifetime commitment to your house rabbit, and they should be treated as an integral part of the family. The primary caregiver must be a responsible adult, and young children should always be supervised when interacting with your rabbit and instructed on proper approach and handling.

Rabbits are intelligent and social animals; they do best with a rabbit companion and need daily interaction with their human friends. Rabbits should be fed unlimited hay, a little high-quality hay pellets, and a fresh leafy green salad.

Your rabbit will need regular nail trims and annual vet checks. With proper care and lots of love, rabbits can live to be 10-12 years old.

Our adoption fee is $70 for a single and $130 for a pair (this helps us cover part of their spay/neuter cost). An interview, adoption application and a picture of their housing will be required before adoption.

We will NEVER separate a bonded pair. Bunnies bond for life. If the bunnies are shown together, they are bonded.

We are not adopting to homes with dogs, we have had some bad trauma to our rabbits in the past. Their safety come first.

More about this shelter

At Special Bunny, even though we have a particular focus on special needs bunnies, most of our adoptable rabbits do NOT have special needs; they are 'regular' bunnies who came to us from shelters or people who could no longer care for them. If they were special needs when they arrived, it might have been from a lack of attention or a very solvable medical condition. We give them the love and care they need and they return to being their normal, wonderful, non-special-needs selves, and we look for forever homes for them.
If a bunny's profile says they bunny is special needs, it could be due to age, or an ongoing condition that is very manageable. Bunnies who have chronic or difficult conditions stay with us at our sanctuary to live out their lives in love and comfort.

Special Bunny sanctuary is a place where we welcome and care for special-needs and older rabbits to ensure they have a good quality of life; after all, being old or having special needs is not a disease that needs curing. These special ones just need some extra love and attention.

We are looking for people who want to adopt, support, and help our special bunnies.
