My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! I am Jonathan. I have made my journey here to Minnesota to find a family of my very own. I was found on the side of the road in Alabama with severely burned paws. An amazing family took me in and got me feeling much, much better! I currently live in a home with my foster mom and dad, 2 human kids, 4 other dogs (both big and small) and a cat. I LOVE playing in my yard with the other dogs! I am still trying to get used to my kennel, to be honest it really isn’t my favorite thing in the world. I will go in there when my foster mom gives me treats but I will usually bark and cry. Thankfully, my foster mom and dad have been letting me sleep on the couch or my dog bed at night so I only have to be in the kennel when they’re at work. I also love to snuggle with my foster mom… she keeps telling me that I’m the biggest lap dog she’s ever had, whatever that means. I am fully housebroken. I will usually whine and pace to let you know I need to go outside. I am working on my leash etiquette, I always forget that I am a big boy and it’s not very comfortable for my foster mom or me when I pull. Any who, that’s enough about me for now, I’d love to meet you and get to know you! You should contact Warrior Dog Rescue to set up a meeting with my foster momma and me so we can chat more! See you soon!

Jonathan is Heartworm positive and is waiting for a negative test result which can take 2-9 months after treatment. His treatment has been completed and he will need a Heartworm test every 2 months to follow up on his treatment progress until he has a negative result. During these months, you will need to make sure his heart rate is not elevated due to high energy play or exercise. Jonathan will also need continued use of monthly Heartworm prevention going forward. These medical needs will be the responsibility of the adopter.

--------------------------------------------
All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.

Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.

More about this rescue

The mission of Warrior Dog Rescue is to save the dogs that are homeless, left abandoned in shelters, are surrendered by their owners, those that are being abused and neglected, and those that are left wandering. We are committed to providing them the medical care they need, helping them to overcome their past by providing them loving, educated foster homes, finding them their perfect forever home by means of a thorough adoption process, and guiding them on their journey into their new life. They all deserve a “good dog life… every single one of them.”

Warrior Dog Rescue will be a model rescue by partnering with overcrowded shelters that need to make room for more abandoned dogs. We will continue to educate others about responsible dog ownership in regards to safety, spay/neuter, nutrition, obedience, socializing, abuse, and neglect. We acknowledge that we will have a role in this industry to take the lead on providing awareness to others in the community and across the country. Every dog will know what it feels like to be loved till the end of their life.
