Bagheera is still searching for her forever family. Surrendered to HCCC in February 2024, her only purpose in life was to be used as a breeding dog. Now, for the first time, she is experiencing love and learning how to be a companion. Thanks to the unwavering love and patience of her foster mom, Bagheera now enjoys giving kisses, wagging her tail, and even sleeping on the bed.
Bagheera still has a long way to go. She remains cautious and needs time to feel safe, but once she builds trust and security, her love and loyalty is STRONG! She loves exploring her surroundings at her own pace, but slow introductions to new places and people are best. With her observant nature and sweet demeanor, Bagheera needs a calm, Chow-savvy adopter who understands her unique personality. A peaceful, low-stress home without children under 12 years old is perfect. She thrives with a secure, fenced yard where she can roam safely, and a calm canine companion is ideal. Due to her prey drive, she needs a home without cats or small animals.
Bagheera's comfort is a priority, ideally, her new home should be close to her foster location to ease her transition. **Bagheera is located in Denver, CO. Transport within a day’s drive of Denver can be arranged.**
If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application @ https://form.jotform.us/41173109602142. Once approved, home visit and reference checks are also required. If you have further questions outside of this listing, please email chowmail.hccc@gmail.com.

Houston Chow Chow Connection is a collaborative of dog lovers and rescuers that dedicate their time, efforts and talents toward helping rescue Chow Chows in need. We are an entirely volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) organization with no administrative costs.
Our rescue traces its origin back several years to the work of Dianne Watson. Dianne dedicated much of her young life to saving homeless Chows in North and West Texas. In her memory, Houston Chow Chow Connection continues her passion of uniting Chow Chows with perfect forever families.
HCCC began rescuing in 2013 and re-homed over 400 dogs since inception, including over 125 in 2017! Our dogs found homes on the East and West coasts of the U.S. and have traveled north and south! As we continue to rescue and re-home more and more Chows, our costs grow. As you may know, rescuing animals takes money. Not only is there the typical care and upkeep (including food and general veterinary care), some of our rescues need specialized treatments.
At HCCC we don’t pick and choose the dogs we rescue – they pick us. While the majority of our rescues are healthy, we never turn our backs on the homeless, Chows with physical issues, or disabilities. Some of our incoming babies have suffered long-term and extensive neglect. New HCCC dogs may require spay/neuter, shaving due to extensive matting, entropion and/or hip replacement surgeries, treatment of skin problems and a variety of other issues.
