My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Amelia and I am brand new to Minnesota! I was living on my own as a stray in Alabama until some nice people took me in and transported me to Minnesota to live with a foster family. My life didn't start out very easy, but I'm still a puppy and hope to find my forever family soon so I can give all my love to them!

Have you heard of furniture? People have it in their houses and it's soft and comfy and you can lay with your human and get all the pets and lovins'. It's amazing! I can also work up some pretty good puppy zoomies speed inside when I play with the little humans and my foster-pup siblings.

I've only lived in my foster home for a little while and I'm trying my best to learn how I'm supposed to behave. I am trying really hard to figure out housetraining. I still have accidents in the house, but my foster mom lets me out often and I'm learning to "go potty" when she tells me to outside. She says I'm getting better by the day! I've never been an inside dog before, so this is all new to me!

I sleep in my kennel at night and I do pretty well. I only sometimes whine, but my foster mom will let me outside to go potty and then I can usually go back in and get some sleep before she gets up for the day to feed me and my two foster-pup sisters breakfast. I usually have the most energy right in the morning. I like to play and run after I eat to get some of my energy out. I like the big yard I have to run and play in. I haven't figured out how to fetch yet, but I do like to run and chase with the other dogs.

My foster mom works from home, so I get to nap and chew toys while she works and she lets me out often to make sure I remember not to go potty in the house. I also like to curl up next to her as she works so she can give me pets any chance she can. I like to follow her around whenever she gets up to be sure she doesn't need me for anything. Sometimes I ride with her in the car to go pick up her little humans from camp and she says I walk on my leash and ride in the car pretty well, too! She laughs at me sometimes because she says my ears bounce up and down when I move my head while I'm listening to her talk.

In the evening, I like to run and play again to get my energy out before bedtime. I am curious about all the smells that I smell and I like to explore everything outside and inside! The first day I was here, I was so quiet... But I've found my voice! I don't bark at much but when my foster-pup sisters and I get to playing- I like to bark so they know I mean business. They're bigger than me so I have to try and sound tough! My foster mom says we sure can make a racket, but we're having so much fun! I've never had such fun playmates before! They're really showing me how to be a good dog.

I was very nervous when I first came off the transport because I haven't had much contact with people, but I am quickly learning that people can be so loving and kind. I really hope that the right people find me and make me a part of their family because I have so much love to give!

All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.

Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.

More about this rescue

The mission of Warrior Dog Rescue is to save the dogs that are homeless, left abandoned in shelters, are surrendered by their owners, those that are being abused and neglected, and those that are left wandering. We are committed to providing them the medical care they need, helping them to overcome their past by providing them loving, educated foster homes, finding them their perfect forever home by means of a thorough adoption process, and guiding them on their journey into their new life. They all deserve a “good dog life… every single one of them.”

Warrior Dog Rescue will be a model rescue by partnering with overcrowded shelters that need to make room for more abandoned dogs. We will continue to educate others about responsible dog ownership in regards to safety, spay/neuter, nutrition, obedience, socializing, abuse, and neglect. We acknowledge that we will have a role in this industry to take the lead on providing awareness to others in the community and across the country. Every dog will know what it feels like to be loved till the end of their life.
