My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 9/4/24 Sissy has had a chiropractor adjustment. She is warming up to people. Knowing that she was raised by a lady in an apartment lets us know how comfortable she would be in a similar situation. She also "Baroo"'s when she wants to go outside to potty. Her weight looks good on her at 27#'s now. One other dog for a companion would be ideal and multiple dogs may overwhelm her as something she isn't used to during her 16 yrs. Time spent acclimating her to more dogs may do her good to learn. Sissy can be left alone for a period of time, would curl up and sleep Im sure.

Sissy, 16 yrs old in March 2024, was taken in from a one time owner who is currently in a Nursing Home. This wonderful lady spent some time overweight but is now at a prime 28#'s. She is spayed, agile with a very slight limp, takes treats gently, has been in mulitple dog homes for visits, on thyroid medication controlled and maintained. She lived in a first floor apartment but has shown she can do steps. Sissy can potty on leash or in a fenced in area. She isn't a typical lap dog but friendly loves to be petted on the head. As with all dogs Sissy learned silly habits and if you scratch her back end she thinks shes going outside for a walk. She keeps a subtle awareness of her surroundings.

OUR WEBSITE HAS CHANGED https://lotdr.ncwcom.com/
If you wish to submit an application, email us and we will email you the form. OUR EMAIL HAS CHANGED --- plumeytunes@yahoo.com
The amount of adoption fee/donations are determined by breed/age/health of dog. We require a signed contract and an adoption agreement. Our adoptions are a process - We take applications first, then do home visits/references and vet checks before the final acceptance or denial. We will not consider shipping. At times a transport can be done, but please don't count on it, it would be best if you would make arrangements to pick up the dog at the foster home. I like to think that the dogs have a say in where they go. This way they can agree or disagree to go with you. Some dogs may feel abandoned by a person who has devoted a lot of time socializing/training a dog and then being taken to a new home and "left". It all depends on the dog, we want to start its new forever life on a good note with no surprises..

Go meet their pets

We offer (after acceptance of application) for an applicant to visit with the dog that is up for adoption at the foster home and with your family or existing dogs (should you have any) to see if they are an appropriate match.

More about this rescue

Least of These Dog Rescue (Matthew 25:40,45) is an independent small dog rescue that began by pulling for reputable rescues from our county pound (now kennel). Then we began transporting and fostering for ig's, yorkies, greyhounds and puppymill dogs. Dog rescue home visits were added on to our responsibilities. We believe that the term designer dogs is a fad and trendy. We prefer to say "a mixture of breeds is for a lifetime". We are dedicated to retraining/cleaning up strays and owner turn-ins, a few at a time. We believe dogs deserve respect and the best home for life. We focus on dogs that are past their hold time that no one apparently wants because of looks/health/age. "There's a nice dog in there somewhere" we say and we work to find and bring out that beautiful spirit.
LOTDR is not a 501c3. We are non profit and registered with the Ohio Department of Agriculture and all donations and adoption donations made to the rescue go directly back to the dogs for their vetting/food/supplies/training.
We believe that God intends for people to treat dogs humanely with compassion, kindness, love and care. We could use foster homes from time to time so if you are interested in that please email us. Since we don't claim to know all the history of a dog in our care and even tho our dogs are or blossom into greyt pets, we very rarely say that a dog is great with all children. Therefore, we suggest and require that you meet the dog with your family. Some dogs we will only adopt to families with children over 6 yrs of age. Donations are always welcomed for vet care. Our adoptions are a process. Completed application is first. Then we do home check and personal vet checks before the final acceptance .. email us for an application.
