My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you’re looking for a lap cat with a squeaky-door-hinge meow and lovely white feet, look no further than Mr. MacMac! Sumac is a major foodie; his favorite things are, in no particular order, Churu goo snack, being pet while he eats, cheek scratches, and every single bit of food he can get his little paws on. Like any kitten, he also loves to wrestle with his littermates and chase interactive string toys. He would be a good candidate for training to do tricks due to being highly food motivated! He is also strikingly handsome, with his little pink nose and 'eyeliner' markings. He is a big kitten, so he might be a big cat when he grows up.

Sumac comes from the streets of San Leandro. He wasn’t trapped as a young kitten. He spent longer as a feral kitty, so he still struggles with fearfulness around new humans and new environments. He needs a calm home with patient humans who have experience with timid cats, to bring out his best self. He would do best in a home with a kitty buddy willing to play with him and potentially calm, patient older children. It is not known how he would respond to dogs in the home. We estimate Sumac was born in early April 2024. Kitty Bio #3054QG-Su.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The goal of our adoption process is to place the right cat(s) with the right person. These are the steps:

  1. Pick out a cat or think about the qualities you want in a cat.

  2. Complete our adoption questionnaire.

  3. Meet the cat over a video call with the foster parent or in person to see if the cat is a good fit for your household.

  4. Meet with an adoption counselor over a video call for a virtual home visit to go over a safety checklist.

  5. We will bring the cat to your home to complete the adoption.
