My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Hazel. I’m a 30+ pound, 10 month hound mix. I grew up in kennels/rescues until I came to my foster mom’s house when I was 8 months old. My foster mom has taught me a bunch of new things. I’m house trained, crate trained and walk on a leash really well. I know sit, touch, and hop-up commands and am working on lay down and wait. I am very treat motivated and quick to learn.

Houses and people were really scary at first but now I love it here. I’m still slow to warm up to new people but everything is much less scary. Even when I’m scared though I’m super gentle and have never snapped in fear. My foster mom says I am very loving and learning to be a cuddle bug.

I love my doggo foster sister. We play together and cuddle up for naps everyday. I also love all my stuffed animals and enjoy piling them up around me. And just recently I saw snow for the first time. It was so much fun to play in!

Home visits are being done virtually due to Covid.

Meet the Pet

The majority of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. Fosters will contact you to schedule a meeting with you and your dog.

Sign Adoption Contract

Contracts will be signed through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

5.
Pay Fee

Payment will be made through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

6.
Take the Pet Home

Don't forget an adoption picture! We like to post adoption pictures to our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.

We are an all breed, 501(c)3 non-profit, dog rescue located in Windsor, CO dedicated to helping dogs in need! While our hearts lie with the giant breeds, our mission is to save any dog from death, illness, and misfortune regardless of their size, age, breed, or health status.
