My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Basil is a short haired calico about 5 months old (DOB about 4/1/24).  She was found under a Good Samaritan’s porch and appears to be the last surviving member of her litter. It took her a few days to figure out an indoor life, but now she truly appreciates the luxury of having a foster home! While she was quiet and a bit shy at first, within 3 days she emerged as a total firecracker of a kitten! She is full of energy and spunk. You might not notice it at first, as she sometimes still takes a minute to warm up to a new toy or person. She needs an equally high energy playmate to keep her engaged. When she is ready for a nap, she likes a soft pillow or lap. She LOVES balls/springs and watching birds and squirrels on TV – she hasn’t quite mastered the window yet. She’s cute as a button now and will be a lovely calico when she grows up!  She LOVES everyone as soon as she meets them.  She is VERY playful and active.  She loves to play with toys or other cats and is never bored.  She gets along well with other cats, and we think she'd be great and kids.  Unsure about dogs.  She's negative for feline leukemia and aids, had all distemper and the rabies vaccines, been wormed, had advantage for fleas, and been vet checked and spayed.  Preference will be given to adopters who have a young playmate/companion for the kitten.  We typically do not adopt kittens less than 6 months old to homes where they will be a solo pet.   If interested in this cutie pie, please contact Holly at 865-671-4564 or hhfrey1@tds.net

We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. The majority of our cats and kittens come from high kill shelters. Through our application and interview process, we strive to make the 'purrfect' match to insure a loving, lifelong home for those in our care. We do NOT receive funding from any national organization, federal or state governments.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

At this time we are not attending adoption fairs. To adopt, we ask that you first complete an application (email hhfrey1@tds.net to request and indicate the cat(s) of interest). Approved applications will be allowed to meet the cat in a home environment. Completing the application does not obligate you to adopt.

More about this rescue

Stray Connection is a small organization of private foster homes (no shelter or store-front) that takes in kittens/cats from shelters outside of Knoxville that are typically high-kill, low-funded. These cats are brought to Knoxville where they receive the necessary vet care. Because our cats live in private homes, we know them well. It is our mission to make the best match of the cat's personality and individual needs with an approved adopter.
