Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ash had a person. That person's health failed and they surrendered her to a local shelter in hopes that she would find a home. Unfortunately, she ended up on a kill list with many others. Lucky for them, we worked with other organizations to save her and 14 others. She was well cared for by her person, and it shows. She was stressed when she came, but quickly warmed up to her fosters. She snuggled with the grandkids and laid on the back of the couch near her foster mom. She was living her best life. Her foster had to go out of town, so Ash was placed in one of our adoption centers. As first, she did OK, but she was really stressed and developed cystitis and a UTI. Our sweet girl was completely blocked and had to spend a week in the ER. Since we did not have an animal-free foster home for her, she was placed with a medical foster where she had to be around other cats.
It was rough going for the first week or two. Medications had to be given and she had her separate space but was also in the room with other cats. She was not a fan! We added a medication to help her relax which helped her tremendously.
Guess what? We slowly weaned her off of those medications and left the door to her space open where she could come and go and be around the other cats. For the first few days, she did not come out, after that, she would come out and then go back into her safe space. Slowly but surely, she got more comfortable around other animals, including dogs!
We do believe that Ash would do best in a home with no other pets or with one or two respectful animals that would give her space. Bonus if the home is on the larger side, where there are lots of areas for everyone to coexist.
Ash is a goof. She absolutely loves loves and she acts like a kitten trapped in an adult body. She will open cabinet doors; she will jump off of things. She will try and put her whole body in your refrigerator when you open the door! She just needs to be everywhere all the time. If you choose her, you will have to find her antics to be a hoot. Oh, and be ready to share your lunch - you'd think she never eats - lol!
Ash needs time to acclimate to new surroundings. If you have patience and will let her come around, she will be your best friend! We will not be bringing her to adoption events or housing her in a cage at an adoption center. If you are interested in meeting her, we will set up a time to either meet you in one of our adoption center rooms or will come directly to you for a meet and greet.
You won't be sorry bringing this gal into your home! She is so dreamy and she is worth every moment of your time!
Disclaimer:Although she prefers human beings and likes her independence away from other animals most of the time, we believe that the biggest stress she had was the introduction to other animals after living her life in a human-only environment. During these last few months post-ER, she decided that tolerating other furballs wasn't too terrible
