Chicagoland Eskie Rescue's Jet relaxing on the deck ~ frog style! LOL! 🐸
Jet is available for adoption! He is so sweet and so much fun, but he is all puppy! Jet needs to be shown boundaries and he needs training to be the best dog he can be! Jet is just a year old and weighs 15 lbs. He is crate trained. He walks well on leash, he doesn't pull, but he gets distracted and meanders. Note: Jet does get car sick. He is young, possibly with very limited time spent in a car in his past life. This can get better in time with short rides around town to get him used to the motion. Jet likes other dogs and will follow "the pack," but he is high energy, so senior dogs are not recommended. He will chase a cat and is too rambunctious for small children. Jet loves to play with toys, chew on bones, and be challenged with puzzles & games. He also likes to cuddle, is affectionate, and loves to give lots of kisses.
The advantage of an older "adult" puppy, they typically learn and catch on fairly quickly instead of many months of puppyhood. He still very young and very trainable. He is so close to being housebroken; we are working on his marking. He sleeps well at night; he does not need to get up during the night to go outside.
Jet needs to be crated (especially when first moving into a new home) until he has had some training and matures a bit more. He can and will jump baby gates! Jet is very agile and athletic, he may be a candidate for agility! He eats two meals a day, no grazing. In his foster home, he takes at least one long walk a day (weather permitting) plus he has a fenced yard and deck to run and play in. Jet needs lots of toys and doggie proof stuff to keep him safely busy. He would love to have an equally energetic dog to play with too.
If you work away from home, you will need to have a daily plan to adopt Jet; he is too young to be left alone and loose in a home during the day, and it would be unfair to leave him crated for 8+ hours each day. Training needs to be incorporated into his daily plan as well ....so he learns where to ask to go outside, so he begins to understand what he can and cannot play with, chew on, or jump on, etc, etc. A home with fenced yard would be great but not a requirement. Having said that for anyone in an apartment or condo, please consider a young dog's energy level, need for activity, need to run, plus an enthusiastic dog does bark occasionally! Don't expect a one year old dog to "hold-it" for 8+ hours each day!
Jet is being fostered in the Chicagoland area. Anyone interested in adopting Jet will need to come to Chicago to meet and adopt. Please complete an adoption application found on our website:
