My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! I am Beans, 25 pounds of literal sunshine. I think I’m a King Charles Spaniel + Corgi + Golden Retriever combo but I’m not going to put myself in a box. Also, my foster mom says I’m a 100% angel (not yet approved by the American Kennel Club, but I think I can change their minds).

My foster mom tells me that in the short time she’s known me, I’ve changed her life forever. Which is pretty neat because I’ve spent much of that time sleeping. Work smarter, not harder and all that.

Speaking of smart, I’m super clever. I take in new things and remember them in a way that says I wouldn’t need flash cards for AP classes if I was a human.

My awesome memory and ability to learn fast means that I’m also having some trouble letting my past go. I spent two years in a backyard hoarding situation. I had seemingly endless litters of puppies, no affection, and no space or family to call my own. Not gonna lie, the world looks kinda scary from this angle.

But I’ve started to learn new things — like how amazing the world can be. I love wooded areas that make me feel like a forest fairy queen with my magnificent neck floof blowing in the breeze. I love my crate and my blankets and sitting by your feet.

AND PUP CUPS. I had no idea about pup cups! I love pup cups even more than my other favorite food of all time-spam. I’m all about breakfast (and care less about dinner).

I’d love a calm home where we can all de-stress together at the end of the day. If you work from home, that’s a big plus for me. I’m quiet (but listening) on all your calls (and then we can gossip about your coworkers after). If you have a confident, calm dog, I think that would be great for me. I need some tutoring on “how to dog.” I’m in my live, laugh, love era but I can’t get there without your help. I have a good understanding of the potty train concept. I walk well on a leash and appreciate encouragement as I do so. We all need a good hype person now and then.

Would you mind if I crashed at your place? And I really do mean crash. I spent two years never getting more than minutes of sleep at a time, so I’m working on closing that sleep debt gap. If you need a napping buddy… call my people. You can scratch my ears and I’ll repay you with the kind of love that only a dog who has never been loved can give. Let’s talk over some spam and whipped cream about how much I’m gonna love you.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We rescue dogs and place them in foster homes until they are ready for adoption. We vaccinate, spay/neuter, microchip, and provide any additional care such as surgery or rehabilitation. We help each dog get ready to be placed in a happy forever home.

Potential adopters are asked to complete an online adoption application and may be visited by one of our volunteers to do a home interview. We aim to find the best fit for each dog's needs.

Our adoption fees range between $400-$1,000 for domestic dogs and those from Mexico. Dogs are assigned an adoption fee based on several factors such as age, breed, health and behavior, amongst others.

For our international dogs from overseas, adoption fees range $800-$2,000. International adoption fees are higher due to the travel and boarding costs, as well as the above-mentioned factors for domestic dogs. These dogs stay in their country of origin for weeks, or sometimes months, prior to being able to travel.
