My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Lennon ! I'm from Arkansas.

From his foster: Lennon is a sweet, affectionate, curious and loving boy who came to MN from a shelter in Arkansas in mid-July with his 2 littermates, Janis and Stevie. Lennon is currently living in a home with his littermate Janis (also up for adoption and is the little brown puppy in some of the posted pictures), and two Boston Terriers - all of which he loves and gets along with. Lennon is very much a curious puppy who loves to explore the house and yard; sometimes getting himself into a little bit of trouble. Despite his curious puppy explorations (slipping between the bars of the fence to checkout the flowers on the other side or steal a piece of mulch from the neighbor's yard to bring back home, digging a hole by the grill, or pulling the tag off the patio furniture) you can tell Lennon just wants to be a good boy and please his people. He shows restraint in so many things and has the world's best "sit." You can just tell this little guy is going to be the best boy as he matures and learns all the rules.

Lennon has an adorable little black ring around one of his eyes and when you look into this little boy's eyes you feel the love coming back to you with his soulful, loving gazes. Words cannot possibly describe how wonderful this guy is. Everyone who has met him comments on his sweet, loving nature. He loves cuddles and hugs and will lean into you for them. He sometimes gets scared of his own hiccups and needs a couple minutes of cuddling until they pass. He LOVES toys and chewing on bones. He came to MN pretty thin and malnourished and you can tell he struggled to be fed in his early weeks of life. For this reason, he has to have certain kinds of bones or he will try to swallow some whole. He and his sister are known as the food stealers in the home and have to be separated from each other, as well as the resident dogs, to eat so they don't run over and steal each other's food. With that said, we do not see any signs of food aggression. Just the strong desire to happily eat and eat and eat :) He is very food motivated which means he learned "sit" in about 15 minutes!

When he is tired, he will go curl up in his crate or find a comfy spot on the couch. He can be quite independent but would love another dog to play with. He is constantly playing with his bio sister and foster sisters, as well as the neighbor dog. He can be a little timid at first with larger dogs but then he tends to warm up. We have recently started puppy socialization classes and he loves all the puppies he meets there. He is also great with kids.

As already stated, he learned "sit" in about 15 minutes. We're working on other commands and walking on a leash. He gets a little nervous out walking sometimes but treats tend to help with this. It can just be a bit challenging trying to train 2 puppies in the household so we will keep working on this!
We have a strict potty schedule so he has been very good going potty outside but it is a work in progress. A fenced in yard would be great because he loves just hanging outside which also helps with going potty outside.

Currently, he sleeps in a dog bed at night inside a gated off area attached to a kennel. This area has a couple pee pads down but most mornings we come down to dry pads. Lennon voluntarily goes into this area anytime he's tired (though sometimes he prefers to just chill on the couch). Even though we leave the kennel open at night, we think he'd do just fine with a closed kennel but would surely love cuddling in a dog bed/human bed in a bedroom at night.

We can just tell Lennon will make a sweet, loving, good boy for anyone who welcomes him into their family. He does great with kids of all ages. We're not sure about cats since he hasn't been exposed to any. He is also pretty quiet and we rarely hear him bark.

An ideal forever home would have another dog for Lennon to play with but if he can be included in things with his family, we would likely do okay without another dog. He has high puppy energy and curiosity but is not a jumper (other than if you're holding food). A fenced yard would also be great since he loves to run around and could spend most of the day just exploring and laying outside.
We recently did a DNA test for Lennon and results showed a Terrier mix, as well as a mix of Shepherd, Labrador Retriever and Border Collie.

I promise, you will not find a more loving, sweet dog out there! If you can appreciate Lennon's puppy curiosities now, you will see that he is the best boy once he learns the rules of your home! I am going to have an incredibly difficult time letting this boy go to his forever home.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
