My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!!!! I'm Kiddens - just wait 'til you see my brilliant and mesmerizing emerald eyes glowing with mischief, adoration, curiosity, and excitement! Any music fans out there? Foster mom tells me I'm the quintessential cat version of a rock star! In fact, Freddie Mercury coined me perfectly as a "lover of life, singer of songs. And just like David Bowie, the unique patterns on my sleek coat shift and change depending on my pose, which is most often in the middle of...wait for it...playing (it's my favorite thing to do)!

Just like my rock star buddies, I'm confident, I love being in the spotlight, and I love to put on acrobatic and vocal performances! Maybe you want a front-row seat to every one of my future shows (there will be MANY!)?! Every rockstar loves a groupie, but most importantly, I'm looking for a best friend -- a human companion in search of a rockstar heart-cat to join their family! I'm ready for the real deal!

I invite you to come meet me in person where I promise to serenade you, but be warned that you may fall in love on the spot. You'll be able to witness my acrobatic prowess, which is in full force when I am faced with a jingly feather wand toy or a laser pointer. Oh boy, can I leap and soar in the air with grace and beauty - I wonder if I'd be accepted into Cirque du Soleil...

Since I am still a teenage boy, I do have a very high level of energy, and I've very politely asked foster mom ] to please find me a young feline friend (or two) with lots of energy with whom I can play. It's much more fun to play with someone else, you know? Especially if they are as curious and smart and fearless and nosy as I am! I explore everything - nothing at all phases me. Not the lawnmower, not dogs, not even my somewhat grumpy 15-year-old foster sister who doesn't want to play with me. (She's ready for me to find my forever people though, believe me!)

Foster mom has lovingly assigned me the moniker of "Energizer Bunny, because I can play and play and play and then I tire myself out. And that's when I immediately turn into a veritable love bug that will follow you around, cuddle with you, sleep with you, help you work, and gaze up at you adoringly with such trust and love shining through kohl-rimmed emerald eyes. Every single experience is one of joy and learning and you will feel my love for life when you meet me. Also - I love to listen and watch the birds while lounging on the screened porch - in fact, the screened porch is one of my favorite places to be!

I am not going to end on a sad note - but foster mom insists that I tell you about how brave and resilient and flexible I am. While I was initially abandoned at an apartment complex, my survival instincts kicked in and I found my foster mom's colony of other kitties, and she knew right away that I was destined to be a family's forever child, sister, brother.... While she doesn't know the details of my life outside, I emerged from that experience as a loving, confident, resilient, flexible, and securely attached baby boy. I have eagerly embraced learning from each subsequent change and new experience I've had since my life "on the inside (I see them as adventures!). It took moments for foster mom (and her friends) to fall in love with me and giggle at my innocent exuberance! Oh, and I'm good with dogs and obviously, I'm good with other cats! Like my elderly foster sister and brother. I love to follow my 10-year old foster brother around and sleep next to him, especially when I'm tuckered out from playing! But I do need a very active young kitty friend to help me get my rock star energy out! And I love people. I love meeting new people and sharing a piece of myself with the world. With that said - I'm ready to find my forever family and for my forever family to find me.

So, ya wanna meet me? Just have your people call my people (by filling out an adoption application!)! I can't wait to serenade you with my wide range of chirps and mews. I've got waking up chirps (accompanied with my giant stretches), question mark chirps, excited running chirps that emerge as I'm playing, and when I hear my name, I chirp in anticipation of getting love! Are you bringing the love? I can't wait to meet you!

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
