My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET HARLEY THE LOVE BUG!

This sweet, big goober was surrendered to North Stonington Animal Control when his owner lost his housing. We were told Harley was twelve years old, but we think he must be younger: he has plenty of happy energy for daily walks, and when he meets other dogs, he jumps around and gives play bows and makes silly groaning noises. He clearly wants someone to romp with him! We think Harley would love to live with a doggie friend if he finds one with his same play energy. He gets a little too excited around cats, so a cat free home is best. Honestly, this handsome lug is going to be a super easy adoption for the right home. He greets strangers beautifully and takes treats gently; he likes other dogs and is respectful with kids (although older kids are a better bet because of his size). He chews on his toys and NOT on the furniture; if left home alone he will happily snooze until you return. He knows sit, paw, leave it, wait, and down, and can catch treats out of the air. He heeds correction from humans and other dogs. After a walk or a bit of play time, he happily settles down and loves to just hang out and watch TV. He's happiest being near you and he absolutely lives to get pets and scratches. Sounds too good to be true? Harley generally walks extremely well on leash, but if something really exciting happens, he may pull. Harley is a big boy at 75 pounds, so he will need someone who is comfortable with controlled leash walking. Honestly, that's all we can think of about Harley that isn't pretty much perfect!

Go meet their pets

Follow us on Facebook to see where our CT Animal House events will be next. We often are out in the community at supporting pet stores and businesses, introducing ourselves and our mission.

Some of our events will be attended by a handful of dogs. Primarily our purpose at these venues is to highlight some of our stories of success, spread the word on the power of adopting rescues, and give us a chance to meet great new potential adopters, fosters and volunteers.

More about this rescue

CT Animal House is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that assists Connecticut Municipal Pounds by providing support for emergency medical expenses, grooming, evaluation, behavioral training, and promotion of animals through our networks in order to improve each animal's chances for adoption. Too often animals with special needs go untreated and are eventually deemed unadoptable and euthanized.
