My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Squid  She’s currently 7.5 weeks old. She came to me around 3 weeks for foster but I’ve been helping her since birth! Mama was an outside dog and of course had puppies overnight. This little girl had made her way away from mom and was very cold. She was brought in, warmed up and back to eating. We noticed she wasn’t quite using her back legs and was much smaller than the other puppies, thought maybe she was a “swimmer” pup. Her previous owner brought them back at 2 weeks old for a check up and again she was still half the size of the other puppies and we noticed her spinal deviation. We advised the owners to consider a rescue for this sweet baby since she was getting easily pushed away from mom by the other pups. About a week later this girl came to me and the amazing Perfectly Imperfect Pups Rescue was the first group I reached out to! While she continues to grow and gain some use of her back legs, this rescue group has the resources to get this girl a wheel chair, prosthetics or even surgery if it’s needed when she’s a bit bigger. She is spunky, sassy and so full of life. She does not let her disability slow her down at all!

This is Squid! She is small but mighty! Squid is such a sweet, cuddly, yet spunky and sassy little girl! She is about half the size of all her litter mates and was surrendered after noticing she had a curved spine. It does not slow this girl down at all! She has some use of her back legs and as she’s gained more strength/muscle has gradually used them more and more and even tries to fully stand when eating! She does not seem painful at all! When her back legs are just moving too slow for her liking she just hops like a little bunny! Although she is still young and it’s hard to tell, it does seem like she may be slightly incontinent. As more time passes and she grows we’ll get a better idea about this. She also eats like a little piglet and needs a slow feeder puzzle bowl. Squid is such a fun time and just the cutest little thing! She always keeps things interesting with her typical puppy antics, and then melts your heart with her sweet snuggles.

7/29 update She’s great with anything living  absolutely loves and adores kids and any dog or cat that will play with her. Typical puppy when it comes to putting things in her mouth she shouldn’t. Listens well but will definitely let you know how she feels about it, she likes to talk back
