My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Owen is a very gentle 43 lb boy. Owen has not had any easy life. He was found back in December of 2023, abandoned in a baseball field in Houston with 2 other dogs.

Somebody had locked all 3 dogs in the park, with no access to food, water or shelter for days. Animal control didn’t have room for them, and no rescues wanted to help the 3 dogs. A good Samaritan took all 3 dogs under her wing and put them in boarding, thinking she would find help for them, and never did. She reached out to us for help with the remaining 2 (1 she was able to rehome). The options now for the remaining 2 are to be surrendered to animal control, where it is more likely they will be euthanized. Bindi and Owen are the remaining 2 of 3.

Owen is 1.5 years old and a bit shy at first when you meet him. He is not sure which humans he can trust and which ones he cannot, as in his earlier life, humans were not so kind to him. When he learns to trust you, he is all smiles and love. He has the absolute best smile.

Owen is crate trained, despite the fact that he would much rather just be out with his human. Nothing gets past Owen. He is a VERY smart boy. He catches on quickly to everything around him. He is very observant and curious.

He would do great with other dogs or on his own. Another dog would help him gain the confidence he needs, but with the right human, he would be fine on his own.

We recommend only older children or no children with Owen, as a more patient and not super active home would be best for him.

Owen LOVES going on walks and adventures. He would be a great adventure buddy. He also rides great in the car with no issues.

The ideal home for Owen would be one that understands he has not had the easiest life, but he has so much love to give. Owen is calm, gentle, loving, sweet, super intelligent and just all around a wonderful boy.

Owen is neutered, heart worm negative, current on rabies vaccine, bordatella, parvo/distemper vaccine, flea/tick and heart worm prevention, dewormer, and microchipped. He will be issued a certificate of health before transport from Texas.

Additional adoption info

Most of our animals are located in Texas in foster care. 90% of our animals are adopted prior to transport, and adopter must pick up animal from the transport company who brings them up north (all USDA companies). We do have private companies that bring them directly to your home/office also. Sometimes we do have animals located in foster care up north - if this is the case we do put at the very top of the animal's profile where the animal is located in the north.

Once approved, we can put you in contact with the foster family to learn more specifics about the animal you are applying for.

We do try and process applications within 1-2 business days. Please make sure to list all appropriate information such as references contact information, vet contact information, current animal information, landlord information, etc.

More about this rescue

We are an animal rescue dedicated to helping neglected, abandoned, stray and homeless animals find their forever homes.

We found a need in our area due to the little to no options for the animals in rural areas in Texas - where most animals that ended up in our shelters were euthanized for space.
