My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes:
Onyx is a sweet boy that loves people and is a general cuddle bug! He can be very excited by sights and smells on walks but responds to commands and is a quick learner.
He is very friendly to strangers and wags his tail and jumps up to meet them.
He loves to cuddle! When I'm eating he likes to rest his head on my lap for a bite.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

Not only do I pull at heart strings, but I also pull on leash! I will need someone to help me with my leash manners.

I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.

I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles!

A volunteer writes: We hope 3rd times a charm for Onyx. Originally found as a small puppy he was brought to Brooklyn ACC in 2019. Small, cute, desirable- he was not surprisingly scooped up very quickly! Fast forward 4 years and Onyx was found again as a stray. For the past year he's been in a foster home that has only lovely things to say about him, but unfortunately couldn't continue to foster. So he's back with us and exactly as we remember. He's playful and handsome, big and healthy. He shows off tricks without us even asking. Want to see Onyx lay down? No problem he does that with gusto!

Unfortunately now Onyx doesn't have the same things going for him as he did as a puppy. Now he's middle aged and not a baby. He's 67lbs vs a small puppy. And he's in the shelter in a sea of faces trying to stand out.

But Onyx is indeed special, like all our dogs, and like all yours. He's ready for his third and we hope final act in a home that will love him through his adulthood and into his senior years when they come. We are #TeamAdultDog over here as well as #TeamOnyx.
