My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes: King Flower is playful and affectionate. He would be a great companion for an experienced dog owner who can continue training him. He would really love a fenced in yard to run around in, an active family to run around/play with him for exercise, and a possible doggy sibling that matches his play style. He loves to go on car rides to the park or the beach, or to go on long walks. King Flower is a pleasure to take on walks as he rarely pulls on the leash.
He enjoys meeting new dogs, however, street cats are not his favorite species to come across. At night, he loves nothing more than to cuddle up for a nap with his caretaker. He is a loving boy, who deserves a forever home.
Before going to live with a Foster, King Flower was a Volunteer favorite at the Brooklyn ACC. He has some separation anxiety, and is on medication, which seems to be getting better every day. If you want a long term best friend, that enjoys being by your side, whether it is going on walks, a car ride or even going to the bathroom, King Flower is your guy.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.

I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.

I don't like to share my food, toys or bedding with others.

A volunteer writes: My heart melts every time I go to walk King Flower. Shyly walking up to his kennel door, his slightly crooked head sweetly looking up at me, his tail going into a slow, happy wag - I'm completely taken in! During our interactions, he gently leans in, wiggling into my legs, his face soft and blissful, as I scratch his back and side. We stop a few times to practice "sit" (he's great at it!) and he gently takes the treat I offer for a job well-done. With regular walks, King has had great housebreaking habits with us and walks nicely on leash, though he occasionally pulls lightly. King was surrendered due to his owner leaving for college. They describe him as friendly and outgoing, relaxed and playful with children and dogs, and enjoys fetch and playing with balls and squeaky toys. My heart melted when I read "he knows when you're scared and will cuddle you." He's reported to resource-guard his food bowl, which can be addressed with fear-free, positive-reinforcement training. King needs time to get to know people at his own pace, but once he does, you've got a big, sweet, gentle friend for life!
