"The Sweet Cowgirl Pup!"
Are you ready to add some sweetness to your life? Meet Elsie, a darling 6 month old spayed female Australian Cattle Dog/Rat Terrier mix. Born to mama Bessie on June 4, 2024, Elsie is one of the "7 Cowgirl Puppies." DNA testing on her sister confirms their primary breeds as Australian Cattle Dog, Rat Terrier, and Australian Shepherd. She currently weighs about 15-20 lbs and is not expected to grow much bigger. She has petite features and refined bone structure like her mama (mom was about 30 lbs).
Elsie has demonstrated good social skills. She's working on potty training and doing very well, learning to sit politely for pets, and is friendly with other dogs and people alike! She is up-to-date on vaccinations, crate trained, and microchipped.
From Elsie's current foster:
"Although Elsie is bred to be high energy she’s actually the perfect mix of energy levels. She will calmly hang out in her crate while I’m at work or doing something in the house that I can’t watch her. Outside she will run laps and play but never runs too far out of sight and comes every time she’s called. She will play with her toys or other dogs in the house but most likely she’s relaxing on the couch chewing a bone or taking a nap. She’s not wired or super hyper. She wants to please her humans and tries hard to figure out what’s expected from her. She’s a pleasure to foster. Her terrier DNA does have her barking at the cats and will chase them if they run but she’s working on those behaviors."

Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs. We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted. As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding!
