My story

Nessa is a 5 year old Lab mix who is way past ready to find the perfect family. Nessa has had a rough past, which makes it hard for her to warm up to new people, but once you are in her circle she is the sweetest and goofiest girl you could imagine. Winning Nessa over will take a very patient and loving human who is willing to take things at her pace, but having a dog like her open her heart to you is the most rewarding and fulfilling experience you can imagine.

With her favorite people Nessa starts showing her true personality. She LOVES treats (especially the human food type), belly rubs, and under ear scritches. She also loves to chew on tasty benebones, or kill those pesky squeaky stuffed toys. Nessa also has a very beautiful voice and happily greets you or tells you how excited she is for meal time by expressing it. She also gets VERY excited to go on walks with her pack! Despite being afraid of the world, when shes walking with her people and her dog friends her tail never stops wagging.

Nessa's best friends in her foster home are a confident happy beagle who shows her the ropes, and on overly friendly cat who loves snuggling up to her. She would love more friends in her new home to help her learn that her new humans are AWESOME and that there is no reason to be scared.

Nessa is crate trained, house trained and dog and cat friendly! Because she can be such a nervous nelly she may do better in a home without rambunctious youngsters. We would love to introduce you to this beautiful soul, and can't wait to hear from you soon. She is spayed and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $250. Additional adoption info

1. The first step is completing our application at www.rescueofhope.com.

2. If your application is approved, you will be contacted to schedule a home visit interview. We will bring the dog over for a visit and conduct and interview with you.

3. Then we will both take a day to consider whether it is the right home for the dog.

4. If everyone is in agreement, the adoption will take place and you will sign an adoption contract and commit to giving our rescue dog a forever home.

We are a non-profit organization. Our adoption fees are considered a donation to the rescue and they range from $150-$350. Our fees help us cover our dog's vet care, food, supplies and other expenses to keep the rescue running. All dogs must be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, tested for heartworms, vaccinated and wormed as appropriate for age and checked for fleas prior to or within 30 days of adoption.

Note: There are no refunds on adoption fees. Adoption fees are considered a donation to the rescue and are tax decuctible.

Hearts of Hope's mission is to save homeless unwanted dogs. Pet overpopulation is a global crisis. Our local animal shelters are full of wonderful dogs that just need more time and help finding the right home. Many of our dogs come from these local kill shelters and others come from urgent rescue situations spanning as far as Beirut, Lebanon. Hearts of Hope strives to help as many dogs as possible. If we are able, we will help. We know we can't save them all, but it matters to the ones we can save.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue located in Grand Rapids, MI and Midland,MI. It was founded by Director, Janelle McFarlane November 23, 2011. Our rescue dogs are provided with the best possible vet care, a safe place to stay and the love they deserve. We do not have a shelter facility. Our volunteer foster homes take these wonderful dogs into their homes until we find their forever families. Our organization is devoted to helping dogs in need and works diligently to find them loving forever homes where they can happily live out the rest of their lives.
