My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Astrid's young owner found himself homeless and unable to take care of Astrid. Astrid was living with grandmother for a short time while awaiting rescue but she was escaping the fence. We were worried for her safety and thankfully we found a foster to adopt home for Astrid.

There couldn't be a more deserving girl! Astrid lights up when she meets you and gives hugs and Pyr paws galore. She is a happy, friendly girl who loves people. She also loves treats which is a good thing because she is underweight and her coat is very thin and dry. We've started her on a healthy diet and can't wait to see her transformation.

The name Astrid originates from Scandinavia and means divinely beautiful. And it just so happens that Astrid's foster to adopt mom is Scandinavian. We think this is definitely a sign that they were meant to be!

More about this rescue

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri is dedicated to rescuing Great Pyrenees who are without a home, need medical attention, or just need a safe haven as they transition to their forever home. We are a volunteer, nonprofit rescue, relying solely on your generous donations. We are currently working to establish our rescue facility in St. Clair, Missouri. Until our facility is constructed, we will be foster based only, with fosters in Missouri and surrounding states. We will continue to have fosters after our facility is built. Our facility will allow us to rescue more Pyrenees in need.
