For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Benito came to HHS in miserable physical condition as a result of extreme neglect: open wounds, massive hair loss, and severely underweight. He has been with us for a few weeks now and has shown considerable improvement under the care of the HHS clinic. However, his full recovery is likely still months away.
The miracle of this situation is that Benito still trusts and loves humans in spite of the way he has been treated. He is housebroken so the HHS volunteers and staff try to get him outside two to three times daily. He thoroughly enjoys going on walks and likes the freedom of being in the back field at HHS. He wags his tail when people and other dogs approach him, and he likes to be petted in the undamaged areas. Benito is clearly a gentle and kind soul trapped inside an abused body. He will become a member of a very lucky family once his health is fully restored.
