My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Potential adopters must fill out the questionnaire at the end of the bio and forward it to graciabutter@gmail.com.

Meet Bruce! Bruce is a 9-month-old, 52lb, happy-go-lucky, Pitbull Terrier. You would never know by his demeanor that, until he was rescued, he lived in a dirty crate with no bedding for most of his short life. He is so happy and friendly and he thinks that he is a lap dog. Bruce gets along very well with other dogs, both big and small, and he lets the little dogs in his foster home boss him around. He also does well around cats. Bruce is doing well with his potty training and has mastered the dog door. The vet feels that he is a little underweight but otherwise healthy, and is scheduled for his neuter surgery on August 15th. This goofy boy will melt your heart and give you years of love and big sloppy kisses.

Animal Rescue Recon ensures that each dog is current on its vaccinations, has been or will be spayed or neutered, and is microchipped to help keep pets out of the shelters and get them back home where they belong.

****Answers to the questionnaire must be emailed to GraciaButter@gmail.com.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions fees are determined to help recover our expenses put into the dog for vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. The fee is normally $300 and in some cases could be less.

We will perform a home-check and/or require pictures of your yard's fencing & gates.

Typically we do not adopt to families with children under the age of 5 unless we know the history of the dog or have witnessed the animal's exposure and reaction to small children.

If you currently own a pet, controlled introductions will be scheduled.

Renters must provide a copy of their lease agreement which reflects the property's pet policy.

Adoptions are held each Saturday at Pet Food Express in Antioch on Lone Tree Way in the Slatten Ranch Shopping Center.

More about this rescue

Animal Rescue Recon, Inc. was established in September 2012 by a group of dedicated, hard-working animal lovers, all with a passion to make a difference and give unwanted animals a second chance.

Based out of Oakley, CA, Animal Rescue Recon serves East Contra Costa County - an area that has minimal options for homeless or abandoned animals.

Our all-volunteer group has various levels of experience in the field of animal rescue, but all have a heart for helping to find forever homes for our voiceless, furry friends. We have no paid staff - we operate solely on volunteers and services donated by members of the community and local businesses.
