My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shilah is quiet, gentle, easy, loving and smart
Shilah has no qualities that need to be worked on

Meet Ms. Shilah, a gentle spirit whose story begins in abandonment. On the streets for a while, Shilah made her way instinctively to the kindest person who would help her feel safe and loved. She was very timid at first, but cautiously trusted more each day. Foster offered just what she needed; kindness, nourishment, and safety. One day she decided it was time to go inside and meet everyone. Each tentative step moved her towards healing and since that time Shilah has blossomed.

Shilah is a Shepherd/Catahoula mix. She is 8 years old, but don’t let that discourage you. This sweet girl has lots of life and love to give! She is spayed and HW negative. She has no health issues, other than some arthritis in her back legs. A good joint supplement has helped this tremendously. Shilah enjoys the company of her four housemates, their daily walk and a good run in an open field. She is not a barker, but instead will let you know if she needs something with a gentle howl or a paw asking you to listen. She likes retiring early for the night and laying her head on your knee for a pet. Foster says of Shilah, 'she is a sweet, super easy girl who’s very well behaved, social, and doesn’t have an ounce of aggression towards any person or thing'.

If you are looking for a quiet girl to lay next to you or a gentle dog to add to your family, please reach out to meet this gem. Shilah would love a family who will offer cuddles, belly rubs and a happy home. Located in Houston, TX. Please contact nod2016dog@gmail.com for more information on this special girl.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

NOD is a seasonal weekend adoption event rescue. After meeting the dog, a completed adoption application is submitted to the rescue.

2.

Interview

As part of the application process, there is the phone contact with one personal reference and adopters veterinarian.

3.

Home Check

If application and references look good, then a home check is scheduled and any residual questions regarding the adoption are answered.

4.

Approve Application

The next step is a one to two week home trial to make sure the adoption is a good fit. We discuss openly the dogs traits - good and bad.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

The final step in our protocol is executing the adoption contract and payment of the adoption donation to the rescue.

Additional adoption info

I am not into rescue to have the largest turnaround of dogs. I am into rescue to take a battered and dejected dog off the streets. To get it healthy and confident in order to make a loving and permanent placement. A human-dog love connection!

More about this rescue

I am an animal lover but specifically a dog lover. I have picked up stray dogs for many years so forming a rescue was inevitable. No One's Dog Rescue is devoted to saving street dogs, one dog at a time. This includes good nutrition for vital health and training for an amendable dog. Part of my mission is to connect the right dog with the right person so there is much discussion with adopter on specific wants vs needs. I also advocate and support raw feeding and natural rearing protocols. As a nutritionist myself I know first hand the power of good food irregardless of species. I rescue because the need is so great and hope to set an example of compassion and responsibility by my actions.
