My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Cleo, and I’m a charming brindle-colored lady with a heart full of love to give. I’m around ten years old, weighing in at a petite 34 pounds. I’m spayed, vaccinated, and ready to find my forever home.

I have Cushing’s Syndrome, which means my body produces a bit too much cortisol. This makes me extra thirsty, and I need to go to the bathroom more often. I wear diapers to help manage this, and I promise I don’t mind them at all! My condition requires regular check-ups and medication adjustments, but with the right care, I can live a happy and comfortable life.

I’m crate trained and will let you know when I need to go outside. If you don’t catch my signals, I might have an accident, but that’s just part of my condition. I love exploring the backyard and running around with a spunky spirit. Indoors, I enjoy napping and following you around the house. I can jump on the couch and climb stairs without any trouble, so don’t worry about me slowing down!

I’m great with kids, especially my two human foster brothers who are 8 and 11 years old. I even did well with a 4-year-old who visited us. Cats? I don’t mind them at all. We coexist peacefully. My relationship with the other dog in the home is a bit tricky. But my foster mom thinks it’s the other dog as I’m a pretty chill gal.

I’m looking for a calm, loving family who can provide me with the care I need. My medical condition requires a bit of extra attention, but I promise to repay you with endless love and loyalty. If you’re looking for a low-key, affectionate companion, I’m your girl. I’m currently in Suffolk, VA, waiting for my perfect match. Could it be you?

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable dogs are all in various foster homes and can be met by contacting rescue. Rescue will then provide foster home's contact information. Meet and greets will be arranged between foster and potential adopters. We also have adoption events at Petsmart on various dates which can be checked on our Facebook page, Operation Save a Shelter Dog.

More about this rescue

Our Mission

Operation Save A Shelter Dog is a foster based, IRS-recognized 501c(3) rescue whose mission is to work with shelters on the East Coast by saving dogs at high risk of euthanasia or that have little hope of adoption in their current condition. Not only is it our goal to find furever homes for our dogs, but also to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing preventative care for their pets.
