My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maya, one of the most loving and social cats you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting! Maya came to us after her and her brother had been abused horribly and sustained life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, her brother Martin did not make it, but Maya survived against all odds and is thriving today.

Maya has a kind and gentle soul and is just happy to be near people. She loves to be brushed and petted, and will stretch up your leg asking to be picked up and held. Due to her injuries, Maya walks with a bit of a wobble, but she can still climb stairs, run while playing, and do mostly everything a normal cat can do. She always uses her litterbox and is not on any medications. She also suffered some head trauma which left her with a crooked jaw and mild neurological symptoms such as the wobbly walk and exaggerated movements, all of which add to her charm and adorableness.

She is only 11-months-old and happily coexists with other cats and a dog, and would likely also be okay in a home by herself. She is laid back and calm, but can chase a toy or roughhouse with a buddy when she is in the mood. If you are interested in an affectionate and laid back girl that has a lifetime of love to give and receive, Maya is your girl!

Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. Additional adoption info

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
