Molly Rae is a cute 4-year old female Labrador Retriever mix who was surrendered by her owner on July 24, 2024 because she was unable to keep her in the rental apartment where they resided.
Molly Rae has a black short smooth coat with a small patch of white on her chest, a long tail, and an adorable face with soft brown eyes, a black button nose on her slender muzzle, and short floppy ears.
Her previous owner reported that Molly Rae has been kept unconfined indoors during the day and also at night. She has been to daycare at Boxers Bed & Biscuits. Molly is crated-trained and has been crated when home alone with other dogs. She is housetrained. Molly has been known to escape from her fenced-in yard on occasion.
Molly Rae knows several basic commands (sit, stay, and down).
Molly lived with children (and was also regularly visited by children of all ages), and she did ok with them.
Molly Rae had lived with other animals (both dogs and cats) and does ok with them as long as she is supervised if there are toys involved.
Molly is afraid of loud noses, thunder/lightning, and water hoses (though she is ok with being bathed). Molly is skittish with men who have beards/facial hair. She shows her fear by barking/growling when frightened.
Molly's known behavioral issues are food- and toy protection/aggression. She loves to play fetch, loves her stuffed tiger, and loves to play tug-of-war with other dogs and people.
Her owner provided this additional information about Molly which she would like to share with potential adopters: "Molly loves to cuddle and prefers to sleep in bed with you She's always done well with other dogs on their own, and she loves to give cats and kids kisses. She doesn't like it when people run, and she will chase them and nip at the back of their legs."
Molly Rae has seasonal skin allergies to grass, and she cannot eat beef because it gives her diarrhea. She has been taking Apoquel to help with the allergies.
Molly weighs 48 lbs. She has already been spayed and is up-to-date on vaccinations. Her medical records have been provided and will be given to her new family.
These photos were taken on July 26, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Cadince Bibbee accompanied Molly Rae outdoors for her 'glamour photos'. Molly Rae has a sweet personality and is a initially cautious around people that she doesn't yet know, but when you gain her trust she is your new best friend. She was very comfortable with Cadince by her side and obviously already loved/trusted her. All of our shelter dogs love Cadince (in addition to her two-legged colleagues and volunteers) (smile).
